Day 265. Thanks, Julie

Everyone who reads my blog regularly knows I’ve had a moratorium on accepting awards for quite a while.  I’m not being a snob.  I’m not trying to be difficult.  I’m wordpressfamilyawardnot trying to be ornery.  Or make a point.

It’s not that I’m not grateful.  I am very grateful.  When fellow bloggers think a blog is worthy of recognition it is, indeed, an honour.

Quite simply, I’ve been very lucky.  I have been nominated for many awards.  I’ve had more than my fair share of the limelight.  And I decided it was time for others to have a turn.

I still feel the same way.

However, Julie at Sow, Sew, So nominated me for an award the other day I can’t turn down.  Because I just love the sentiment behind it.  This is one I’d never heard of, with good reason.  It’s only been around for a week or two.

And its purpose is not just to acknowledge  a particular blogger or blog, but to acknowledge the WordPress ‘family’ we’re all a part of.  I totally get it.  I’ve written about the community many times.  I am constantly amazed and touched by all the support and encouragement I have received in the past, and continue to get, from my fellow WordPress bloggers.  Since Day one.  And, incidentally, by day one, I don’t just mean this blog.  I’ve been a WordPress blogger for about five years.

So accepting this, and passing it on, is a must for me.

Once again, thank you, Julie.

There aren’t many rules.

  • Display the award logo on your blog.
  • Link back to the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 10 as few or as many bloggers you see as having an impact on your WordPress experience.
  • Let your Family members know you have awarded them.
  • That’s it.  Just please pick those who have taken you as a friend, and then spread the love to more folks.

Julie and I like several of the same blogs.  And bloggers.  In fact five of her choices would also be mine.  They won’t be now, obviously, but I’m just saying.  You know who you are.  So just also know how much I appreciate you, your friendship, your loyalty, your comments, your feedback and your blogs.  You always inspire me.

In the true spirit of this award, I am choosing bloggers who read me regularly.  I am choosing you because when you comment, it is clear you’ve thought very carefully about what you are about to say.  You always have something important or meaningful or insightful to share, not just with me, but with others who visit my blog.  You contribute.  And it adds tremendously to what I’m attempting to say; and I am so very grateful to each and every one of you.  It also goes without saying how much I enjoy your blogs, and your opinions and thoughts.   You are all wonderfully talented writers, with much to say and share.

You never fail to entertain, to provoke, to make me think, to make me question, to make me aware, to make me imagine, to make me respond.  You are, in no particular order:

  1. The Green Study
  2. Pete Armetta
  3. Word By Word
  4. Book Peeps
  5. Views and Mews by Coffee Kat

My only problem is, I now cannot stop singing “We Are Family“, a 1979 dance hit song performed by Sister Sledge.  Do you remember it?  It is going to drive me insane for days.  I just know it.

Damn!!!

  1. Congratulations, Fransi, and well-deserved! I am constantly in awe of your ability to draw us into your world and your thoughts for the day. The fact that you are able to keep your commitment to blogging every day and never seem at a loss for words on topics that are meaningful and thought-provoking or informative is, IMHO, quite remarkable. Blog on, my friend!

    • Thanks so much. Some days I can’t believe I’m still at it, myself. But here I am. I’m a stubborn one ! 🙂

  2. Very well deserved. You are one of the every day bloggers I look forward to. You hit topics that resonate not only with me but with everyone. You are so right about commenters. They turn it from an essay to a conversation! We are family…..

  3. Thanks so much for the nomination! I, too, have had a moratorium on accepting awards but receiving this one from you has lifted that momentarily. And, being in the company of your other nominees whose blogs I am also a fan of is all the more humbling. Thanks again! I’ll post soon on this.

    • Thanks. It is fun. I am really enjoying it. I have been bligging for a long time, five or six years, but this is the first time I’ve done it every day.
