Here come the brides (and the grooms) …

… and all their two-and-four-legged ring bearers.

I was kinda tough on the US last week.  Not trying to be mean or nasty, just expressing my feelings.  And they’re still my feelings, in case you’re wondering.  But since then the US ring bearerSupreme Court has made some really good decisions, at least in my opinion.  So I think it’s only fair I mention it.  Can’t just dish out criticism without giving praise when it’s due, can you?

To be honest I wasn’t so sure they (the judges) had it in them.  But they did and both President Obama and the American public ended up having a very good week.  About time, if you ask me.  Joy has been in short supply lately.

Gay and lesbian couples are now finally free to get married in every state in the country.  All 50 of them.  Hallelujah!

But while I’m on the subject of marriage, how is it that polygamy is okay?  Not to Continue reading

This isn’t gonna win me any popularity contests …

… because I know it’s not really any of my business, me being a Canadian and all, but I’m just too sad, and too shocked, to keep it to statue of libertymyself.  What in the world is going on?  This isn’t the America I grew up loving.  This isn’t the America I grew up envying.  This isn’t the America I wished Canada would be more like.  This isn’t the America where I wished I could live.

What the bloody hell!

Before ya’all get all up in arms (trust me, no pun intended), I know there are plenty of good guys in the U.S.  I truly believe there are more good guys than bad guys.  But I’ve gotta tell you, from where I’m sitting it looks like the bad guys are winning.

You elected a black President.  Twice.  Once by an absolute landslide.  But from the instant that man moved into the White House, probably before his personal belongings were even unpacked, Continue reading

At the risk of appearing shallow, self-absorbed and self-indulgent …

A perfume with a scent so heavenly, so unique, so intoxicating, so irresistible, so evocative, so absolutely divine I get asked, all the time, by total strangers, men and women alike, what I’m wearing.  One time a woman followed me for two blocks, until I had to stop at a red light, just to tell me how much she loved my cologne; and to ask for the name.

This is not my ego speaking, honest.  I am someone who has a really difficult time finding a fragrance that doesn’t turn on me.  You know, isn’t so sweet it makes you gag or even worse, just goes rancid the minute it hits my skin.

Several years ago, when I was reeling after the perfume I was wearing back then which, Continue reading

A question for moms

What is it about Cheerios?  Why do all mothers of really young children never leave the house without a small plastic baggie filled cheerioswith them?  And what is it about them that keeps every wee one I’ve ever seen quiet, happy and occupied, even for hours?

Have you ever paid attention when little kids are around?  Doesn’t matter where you are.  It could be grandma’s kitchen, a restaurant, a doctor’s waiting room, a store, a Continue reading
