Day 290. Great Expectations?

It feels like I’m becoming addicted to the WordPress Daily Prompts.  Nothing wrong with it.  They offer up some terrific ideas.  Like yesterday’s.  “Goals”.  When you laptopstarted your blog, did you set any goals?  Have you achieved them?  Have they changed at all?

How could I not write about this topic?

Of course I set goals when I decided to start this blog.  Well, ONE goal, to be precise.  But it’s a WHOPPER!  A goal is its whole reason for being.

My goal was to write every single day for a year.  365 days.  Every twenty-four hours.  Fifty-two weeks.  Twelve months.  An entire annum. Day in.  Day out.  Week days.  Weekends.  Holidays.  Winter.  Spring.  Summer.  Fall.  Rain or shine.   In sickness and in health.  Come hell or high water.  Without fail.  No days off for good Continue reading

Day 184. Six Months

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been six months since I started “three hundred sixty-five“, on August 7, 2012.  Six months!  Half a year.  I’m at the midway point.  Very slightly beyond, in fact.  Okay, a day or two beyond.time flies  But still.

And never, in my wildest imagination, did I ever think I’d be having this much fun.  Never, in my wildest imagination, did I ever think I’d have ‘met’ all of you.  Or that we’d be having the ‘conversations’ we’ve been having here, on my blog; and also on yours.

Never, in my wildest imagination, did I ever think I’d be Freshly Pressed; or I’d have been acknowledged with all the awards YOU have all been kind enough and generous enough and thoughtful enough to give me.  Never, in my wildest imagination, did I ever think I’d be part of a community like our WordPress community.

Never.

And, yet, here I am.  Here WE are.

I’ve had lots of blogs over the years.  Four years on WordPress, actually.  And one on Travellerspoint, before Continue reading

Day 147. Looking Back

We’re mere hours away from a brand new year.  What better time to reflect?  When I started this, particular, blog back in August I really had no idea how it would champagneturn out.  I woke up one morning and decided, there and then, I wanted a blog.  One just for ‘me’.  Where I’d write every day come hell or high water.

About anything and everything.  Whatever popped into my head.  Whatever inspired me.  Whatever I felt like writing about.

Whatever.

And before I could change my mind, I picked a format, played with it a bit, wrote my ‘pages’ and had my first post written.  And published.  All in the space of a few hours.  I was committed.  Publicly.  And anyone who knows me Continue reading
